Michael McCreesh 陳睿昱
Deputy Chair

Michael has over 20 years of tourism, research, economic development and marketing experience working for both not-for-profit and for profit enterprises. Collaborative in nature, adventurous in spirit, Michael has worked in tourism on four continents and brings a cross-cultural, value-driven and sustainable perspective to projects. Prior to moving his family to Taiwan, Michael was responsible for growing Ontario, Canada’s bicycle tourism sector. Michael helped move cycling in the province from a niche trend to an established tourism sector, which now generates a half billion dollars in tourism receipts for the province.

In 2019, Michael moved his family of four to Taiwan and began teaching tourism at Ming Chuan University. He currently teaches tourism product strategy, tour design, marketing research and media relations at the university.  As an independent research consultant in Taiwan, he continues to conduct tourism and economic impact studies on tourism events and bicycle tourism, as well as researching tourist behaviors with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

In April 2020, he co-founded Parkbus Taiwan in the midst of a global pandemic. Parkbus Taiwan is a project that connects city to park through accessible, reliable and direct transportation networks. In September 2021, he launched a tourism consulting company called Origin Wild Consulting & Tours to advance responsible tourism practices and address climate change issues in tourism.

Michael holds bachelor and Master’s degrees in Tourism Management, as well as certificates in Economic Development and Project Management. He started a PhD at National Taiwan University, where he will be exploring mountain biking in Taiwan’s protected areas, but it’s just an excuse to go out and ride his mountain bike to conduct ‘research’.
